Buka District Women’s Federation Prepares for Regional Congress

Buka, North Bougainville – The Buka District Women’s Federation (BDWF) is gearing up for the upcoming National Congress after a successful Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Hatoka Wisil in Malasang. Elizabeth Semoso, President of the Lumankoa Women’s Group from the Haku Constituency, has been appointed as the new President of the BDWF.

The AGM was facilitated by Mrs. Helen Siumana, President for the Women of North Bougainville, who guided the members through the meeting's key agenda. This included the presentation of the financial report from the former committee and the election of new executive members. The newly elected committee structure includes a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Vice Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice Secretary.

In his speech, Guest Speaker Mr. Fidelis Semoso, representing the office of the National Member for North Bougainville, Honorable Francisca Semoso, highlighted the need for effectiveness and efficiency within the organization. He urged the BWF members and affiliated groups to strengthen their communication ties, ensuring a seamless connection from the head office down to the district levels.

The AGM also received a generous boost from the office of the National Member, which provided K2000 Cash this amount was evenly distributed among the 20 participants present at the meeting, further fostering a spirit of unity and collaboration among the members.

With a new committee in place, the Buka District Women’s Federation is poised to participate actively in the National Congress, where they will appoint the executive council for the overarching Bougainville Women’s Federation. The commitment and enthusiasm shown during the AGM indicate a strong future for women's leadership and representation in the region.
